Legendary British car manufacturer Bentley Motors has opened a new service facility in Germany which is fully powered by on-site renewable energy and district heating.

The $5.6 million center in Düsseldorf covers 1,200 square meters of workshop with nine lifts. The Dusseldorf facility will service battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles and be energy efficient governed by a smart building system.

“This new service centre represents a major investment in the city and in our customers here,” Guido von Spee, Managing Director of Bentley Düsseldorf, said in a statement. “It has been designed to the highest technical and environmental standards, ensuring that we can provide an outstanding service experience today while being ready for the future. For our local customers, this facility reinforces our commitment to offering a seamless Bentley ownership journey right here in Düsseldorf.”

The facility represents a huge investment in the region and is embedded in Bentley’s Beyond100+ sustainability strategy. The center includes a 60-kW rooftop solar installation, providing renewable energy to power operations, as well as a direct connection to Düsseldorf’s district heating system.

Bentley Motors’ origins go back to the early 20th century and its racing models won the 24 Hours of Le Mans on multiple competitions. Volkswagen Group acquired Bentley in 1998.
