Denver’s Regional Transportation District has placed an order with electric bus and coach manufacturer NFI Group’s subsidiary New Flyer of America Inc. for 17 battery-electric, zero-emission Xcelsior CHARGE NG 40-foot heavy-duty transit buses.

This is the first battery-electric bus order placed with New Flyer by RTD. The buses will help RTD meet its sustainability goals, as outlined in the Colorado Climate Action Plan to mitigate the impact of climate change by reducing GHG emissions by 26% by 2025, 30% by 2030 and 90% by 2050.

The new buses will also deliver on Colorado’s Electric Vehicles Plan to transition to 100% zero-emission vehicles by 2050.
