Eni Sustainable Mobility has inked a two-year contract to power Spinelli Group’s fleet with HVOlution, a bio-diesel fuel produced entirely from renewable raw materials such as hydrotreated vegetable oil.

Eni Sustainable Mobility is an Italian company dedicated to sustainable mobility and a subsidiary of integrated oil and gas firm Eni. Spinelli Group is an Italian provider of logistics and warehousing services.

HVOlution is a biofuel produced from vegetable residue, waste raw materials and oils produced from non-food crops supplied to Eni through a network of agri-hubs in several African countries. Eni’s bio-refineries in Venice and Gela process these raw materials into hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) diesel biofuel using its proprietary Ecofining technology.

Under the contract, the biofuel will be supplied to Spinelli through Eni Sustainable Mobility’s network of retail outlets. The supply will be handled through Eni’s fuel card system Multicard, which is designed for small, medium and large haulers.

Spinelli’s fleet comprises over 300 heavy-duty vehicles, including 150 latest-generation Euro 6d trucks compatible with pure biofuel. Currently, HVOlution is available in 57 service stations and is expected to be available in 150 sales points in Italy by the end of the month.

The Spinelli Group manages the container sector’s entire supply chain, providing integrated solutions such as multimodal transport, storage and customs forwarding activities to shipping companies. The HVOlution supply agreement is expected to assist Spinelli in developing its ESG policies for a zero-emission future and achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Eni Sustainable Mobility, which has been operational since January 2023, offers bio-refining, biomethane and mobility-related products in over 5,000 service stations worldwide.
