California-based convenience store and marketplace Loop Neighborhood Market has announced an expanded partnership with ultrafast electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions provider FreeWire Technologies.

The partnership will see the installation of FreeWire’s Boost Chargers at Loop’s existing stores, starting with the Fremont location in California.

“At Loop Neighborhood Market, we believe the transition into zero-emission and lowering our carbon footprint is of utmost importance in today’s world,” said Varish Goyal, CEO of Loop Neighborhood Market. “We are most excited to integrate FreeWire’s leading edge Boost Chargers into our Loop locations, helping our customers save time while being more energy efficient.”

Boost Chargers are said to be compatible with all Level 3 EVs and Teslas (with an adapter), and offer a seamless charging and payment experience for customers through payment terminals located directly on the charger or via the EV Connect app.

The charger is equipped with an integrated lithium-ion battery pack, boasting a total energy capacity of 160 kWh, as well as a battery management system. It allows for simultaneous charging of two EVs with both CCS and CHAdeMO connectors. With a low-power input, the charger outputs 150 kW to an EV while drawing only 27 kW from the grid, reducing energy costs by up to 70 percent.

Additionally, the charger is said to take five times less ground space than traditional fast chargers with associated infrastructure, making it a flexible solution that can be deployed almost anywhere without requiring grid connection upgrades.

“We applaud the work that Loop is doing to provide fueling options for drivers of zero-emission vehicles along California’s major highways,” said Arcady Sosinov, CEO and Founder at FreeWire. “The introduction of ultrafast EV charging is an ideal addition to Loop’s upscale service portfolio and we look forward to collaborating with Loop to provide swift, accessible, and dependable charging solutions to even more drivers.”
