Nevada’s Clark County School District has placed an order for 15 GreenPower Type D all-electric, zero-emission BEAST school buses. The $7 million deal is partially funded by $375,000 in grant funding from the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean School Bus Program, which is awarded to priority school districts for the purchase of new electric buses and infrastructure.
The 40-foot school buses feature an integrated chassis with an all-aluminium body and can accommodate up to 90 passengers at one time. While wireless charging is an available option, dual port charging comes standard, with Level 2 charging rates up to 19.2 kW and DC Fast Charging rates up to 85 kW.
“We are honored to have our purpose-built BEAST school buses as the foundation of Clark County’s transition and are proud to serve one of the nation’s largest school districts in their journey to adding all-electric buses into their fleet,” said Michael Perez, GreenPower’s Vice President for School Bus, Contracts, and Grants.
Clark County School District is the fifth-largest school district in the United States, and it operates a bus fleet comprised of over 1,900 buses that transport nearly 125,000 students daily. The order for the 15 GreenPower fleet comes just months after the school district acquired and put into service its first BEAST school bus.
