Greenlane Expands Commercial EV Truck Charging Network into Texas Along I-45 Corridor
California-based electric trucking infrastructure firm Greenlane is expanding its development nationwide starting along the I-45 Texas corridor between Dallas and Houston.
Greenlane, whose two current California operations are in Colton and Blythe, announced the new planned sites will cover a corridor that ultimately supplies cargo across the U.S-Mexico border, to the U.S. Midwest and West Coast.
“Our customers are making commitments to electrify their fleets, and they need a charging network that can grow alongside them,” said Patrick Macdonald-King, CEO of Greenlane, in a statement. “This is the first leg of the Texas triangle, one of the more important freight arteries in the country, so bringing high-power charging there is the next logical step in building a network that serves how freight moves across America.”
These I-45 sites will reportedly offer parking for drop-and-hook relay operations and overnight stops for freight flexibility. Drop and hook is trucking industry jargon for when a driver drops off a loaded trailer at a designated location, then picks up or hooks to a previously packed trailer for immediate transport.
Electric trucking carrier Nevoya has reportedly committed to multi-year operations on the Texas corridor, which will feature 6 to 8 pull-through lanes, tractor parking, and charging facilities to support both combined charging system and next-generation megawatt charging system connectors. Verdon added that this opportunity now provides the California-based carrier with the infrastructure necessary to scale its operations into the Texas region.
“Texas is where the future of zero-emission freight accelerates. It’s a critical trucking market and a proving ground for any operator serious about scale,” said John Verdon, chief commercial officer at Nevoya, in a statement.
Additional California sites are expected later this year, midway between Los Angeles and Phoenix along the I-10 corridor, Greenlane stated. It’s part of the company’s effort to build out its network from its Colton flagship center, which opened in 2025.
Greenlane is a joint venture by Daimler Truck North America LLC, NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, and BlackRock.
