BlocPower, a heat pump systems maker, has signed a strategic partnership with home energy technology firm Harvest Thermal, making it the key vendor for BlocPower's heat pump home electrification projects.

The deal will provide access to cost-saving heat pump technology which reportedly will reduce carbon emissions by 90% in California as compared to gas equipment and 50% compared to standard heat pump solutions, the companies say. The technology will also help reduce monthly utility bills by as much as 45%. The use of this technology will also help reduce the strain on the grid.

The aim is to democratize decarbonization for home owners, regardless of their income. The focus will be the millions of underserved small- and medium-sized buildings across the U.S. that are responsible for 7% of the GHG emissions in the country.

"We are delighted to partner with Harvest Thermal on our joint mission to decarbonize homes at the lowest cost. Harvest's groundbreaking technology provides the cleanest space heating and hot water solution in the market. With our scale and $0 down financing solution, we make clean energy accessible for all customers," said Roopak Kandasamy, General Manager-West for BlocPower.

The two firms will undertake a 5 project pilot and later increase to 50 projects in 2023. They aims for 1,000+ installations in 2024 and beyond.
