Honeywell has become the Official Sustainable Building Technology Partner for the State Farm Arena in Atlanta – home of the Atlanta Hawks.

As part of this multi-year deal, Honeywell will implement a variety of upgrades to the arena’s building operations systems to decrease energy consumption and emissions while increasing visibility and control of the arena’s indoor environment.

“Honeywell’s technology provides us with the solutions and tools that we need to make our arena more energy efficient [and] help meet our sustainability goals,” said Brett Stefansson, General Manager of State Farm Arena. “With an approximate two million fans and guests visiting State Farm Arena each year, our building operations are fundamental to managing their experiences and improving our collective impact on the environment.”

To optimize the court’s playing conditions and improve the fan and guest experience, Honeywell will upgrade the arena’s building management system to one that includes the Honeywell Forge software solution.

The Forge software – which operates using machine learning – will monitor energy use and autonomously adjust the arena’s HVAC system to operate more efficiently and sustainably while regulating indoor air quality.

To complement this software upgrade, Honeywell will also install secondary filtration and deploy sensors in the player locker rooms and fan clubs to monitor the levels of carbon dioxide, total volatile organic compounds, and particulate matter.
