Toyota Motor North America and Kohler Power Systems are collaborating to develop and install their first hydrogen fuel cell power generation system at the Klickitat Valley Health Hospital in Goldendale, Washington.

“Kohler is committed to investing in new technologies to help our customers achieve their resiliency goals without sacrificing their climate-related objectives, and fuel cells are a hugely promising opportunity – both on their own and when combined with other complementary technologies, such as microgrids,” said Charles Hunsucker, Kohler Power Systems President.

The fuel cell power generation system combines Kohler’s power generation control platform and system integration expertise with Toyota’s fuel cell module to create the KOHLER Fuel Cell System.

This system is scalable and customizable depending on the application to ensure quality performance for the customer’s specific needs, including peak shaving and emergency situations.

The first KOHLER Fuel Cell System will be installed at the Klickitat Valley Health Hospital, which serves as the principal medical center for more than 10,000 people in the surrounding district.

The KOHLER system will support the hospital’s power strategy, which includes reinforcing its electrical infrastructure with backup and secondary power generation to ensure uninterrupted operations.
