Automotive technology firm REE Automotive has selected U.S.-based Microvast Holdings to supply battery packs for its "Powered by REE" electric vehicle platforms.
The deal will see Microvast provide its MV-C Gen 4 holey porous cobalt oxide (HpCO) lithium-ion battery packs to power REE’s P7 fully-flat commercial EV platforms with REEcorner technology. The REE P7 is suitable for commercial trucks, walk-in vans, school buses, and delivery box trucks.
“Microvast’s MV-C Gen 4 battery pack is a great fit for REE,” Sascha Kelterborn, Chief Revenue Officer of Microvast Holdings, said. “It’s specifically designed to address the requirements of commercial vehicle fleets.”

REE says it REEcorner technology integrates vehicle drive components including braking, steering, powertrain, suspension and control into a compact module between the chassis and the wheel, creating the flattest EV platform possible with easy integration to any AD system.
According to Microvast, this partnership will offer customers a zero-emission commercial vehicle with battery technology that offers high power performance, high energy density, fast charging (full charge in 30 minutes) and long cycle life. The battery packs will be supplied to REE through Microvast’s German subsidiary.
Compared to previous generations, the newly developed MV-C Gen 4 battery pack contains high-energy HpCO 53.5Ah pouch cells, features improved thermal management and safety controls, and delivers around 27% more energy and power, Microvast notes. The Gen 4 battery packs are expected to be certified to meet cross-regional battery standards such as ECE R100.3, GB 38031, and UL2580.
