The companies will co-develop two stand-alone battery storage projects in Campania and a 150 MWp project portfolio in Campania and Puglia

Emeren Group, a global solar project developer, owner, and operator, has signed a co-development agreement with Glennmont Partners from Nuveen, a fund manager investing in clean energy, for 155 MW (up to 1.24 GWh of capacity) of battery storage projects in two regions in Southern Italy.

Under the partnership, the organizations will jointly develop two stand-alone battery storage projects in the Campania region of Southern Italy. They will also co-develop a project portfolio in Campania and Puglia with a combined capacity exceeding 150 MWp.

The projects are expected to begin construction in late 2025, while operations will commence by early 2027.

"These projects have the potential to make a significant impact on renewable energy investment goals in the region and beyond,” said Francesco Cacciabue, Partner and CFO at Glennmont Partners. “With advancements in battery storage technology, we believe this new portfolio will not only generate strong returns for investors but also enhance the resilience of the renewable energy sector on a larger scale."
