Eznergy Solar Energy Solutions has completed a solar portfolio for the Rumson Board of Education in New Jersey in partnership with renewable energy firm Greenskies Clean Focus.
The 490-kilowatt portfolio includes rooftop solar installations at the Deane-Porter Elementary School and Forrestdale Middle School. The 1,225 solar panels installed at the locations can generate over 550,000 kWh of clean energy and could offset an estimated 87% to 90% of electricity requirements at schools.
Over a term of 15 years, the projects are expected to offset CO2 equivalent of taking some 1,300 cars off the road.
John E. Bormann, superintendent of the Rumson schools, added, “Adding solar at Deane-Porter and Forrestdale not only helps reduce the district’s electricity costs and carbon footprint, but also helps boost the state’s clean energy portfolio with more renewable energy.”

The Rumson School District serves close to 1,000 students in prekindergarten through eighth grade. It comprises those two schools, Deane-Porter and Forrestdale.
Earlier this month, Greenskies announced it had installed more than 2,000 solar panels on the roofs of Putnam High School (520 kW) and Putnam Middle School (232 kW) in Connecticut. Together, the roof arrays will produce an estimated 866 MWh of clean energy annually.
