The company says that the facility, which began delivering power into the Electric Reliability Council of Texas system in July 2022, is its first operational project in an 8-GW renewable and low-carbon development pipeline across the U.S.

Independent power producer Advanced Power announced that its Cutlass Solar project, a 140-MWdc solar photovoltaic facility, has achieved full commercial operations and is supplying renewable power to the Greater Houston area in Texas.

The company says that the facility, which began delivering power into the Electric Reliability Council of Texas system in July 2022, is its first operational project in an 8-GW renewable and low-carbon development pipeline across the U.S.

“Cutlass Solar exemplifies Advanced Power’s continuing growth as a global developer, manager, and owner of modern power infrastructure,” Collin Brown, Advanced Power’s Vice President of Development, said. “We are committed to bringing reliable power to growing areas that need it, such as Greater Houston.”

Virginia-based Bechtel was responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of the facility, which sits on a 700-acre site in Fort Bend County, Texas and employs bifacial solar panels and a ground-mounted single-axis tracking system.
