Countrywide Hydrogen Selects Plug Power to Supply Two 5 MW PEM Electrolyzers for Green Hydrogen Projects

Countrywide Hydrogen, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ReNu Energy Limited, has selected Plug Power Inc., a hydrogen solutions provider, to supply two 5 MW proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer systems for its green hydrogen facility projects in Tasmania, Australia.

The electrolyzers will be installed at two facilities, Brighton near Hobart and Western Junction near Launceston, and can produce 4,200 kg of hydrogen per day. The produced hydrogen will be used to decarbonize Tasmania’s road transport and natural gas sectors.

“The plants are strategically located to leverage existing infrastructure, and Plug’s PEM electrolyzer systems are a perfect complement to the plant’s design,” said Plug CEO Andy Marsh.

These systems will also create supply security through electrolyzer redundancy and hydrogen storage trailer tubes. This allows for each site to meet increased hydrogen demand and, if one site should experience an unplanned outage, the other site can continue production and transport the hydrogen through the trailer tubes to the other site.
