FEF will introduce a multi-use heavy-duty truck hydrogen station near the Port of Oakland and a new retail hydrogen station in Redwood City, CA

FirstElement Fuel (FEF) has increased its True Zero hydrogen refueling network to 41 fully public retail locations with the introduction of a new high-capacity retail hydrogen station in Oakland, California.

Using FEF's proprietary design, the hydrogen station incorporates four dispensers to provide H70 standard fills with a capacity of 1600 kg per day, the equivalent of refueling 450 hydrogen-powered cars per day. The station, opened in a Disadvantaged Community (DAC), was partly funded by a California Energy Commission (CEC) grant.

FEF is also commissioning its multi-use heavy-duty truck hydrogen station near the Port of Oakland.

Part of a public and private partnership, the project, named NorCAL ZERO, will have Hyundai Motor Company supply 30 XCIENT Fuel Cell trucks, the Class 8 hydrogen-powered vehicles, in the U.S.

The station will produce 18,000 kg per day capacity, enough to fill as many as 200 heavy-duty trucks and 400 light-duty vehicles a day, and deploy fast-fill components and protocols capable of filling a truck with 80 kg of hydrogen in under 10 minutes.

The project, jointly funded by the CEC and the California Air Resources Board (CARB), is managed by the Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE).

The company is also inaugurating a new retail hydrogen station in Redwood City, CA, supported in part by grant funding from the CEC. The 42nd hydrogen station will add a new refueling location with four dispensers to California's hydrogen refueling network.
