Nestle Adds 1,100 kW Solar Park to Power Water Bottling Facility in Spain

The power produced from the solar park will be used to power the factory’s operations – generating nearly 20% of the factory’s current electrical consumption

To continue promoting the use of renewable energy and achieve zero net greenhouse gas emissions with its Spanish factories by 2050, Nestle has partnered with POWEN to launch its third photovoltaic (PV) solar park at the Nestle AQUAREL water bottling plant in Herrera del Duque.

The PV solar park, which will be managed by POWEN, is comprised of more than 2,100 solar panels with a total power of more than 1,100 kW. The power produced from the solar park will be used to power the factory’s operations – generating nearly 20% of the factory’s current electrical consumption.

In total, this new PV solar park will help Nestle avoid the emissions of more than 4,100 tons of carbon dioxide per year.

“With this new facility, Nestle continues to support renewable energy in its factories while moving towards the decarbonization of its economic activity,” said Jordi Aycart, Head of Sustainability at Nestle Spain.

This new installation joins a network of two other solar parks – one at the Nestle Solis tomato sauce factory in Miajadas and one located at the Nestle roasted coffee factory in Reus – providing more than 30% of the annual electricity used by these facilities.
