NovaSource Power Services will lead operations, maintenance and generation services for the 1.6-GW Mammoth Solar agrivoltaic project in Indiana.

Arizona-based NovaSource is partnering with Mammoth developer Doral Renewables and will work on ensuring North American Electric Reliability Corp. regulatory compliance and streamlining grid integration. Agrivoltaic dual-use projects blend solar power into land being used for agricultural purposes such as farming and livestock grazing.

The project's four phases include Mammoth North (480 MWdc), which was completed in Q4 2024. Mammoth South (360 MWdc), Mammoth Central I (360 MWdc), and Mammoth Central II (360 MWdc) are all expected to be commercially operational in 2026.

Doral Renewables previously had selected IHI Power Services to handle asset management services for the Mammoth North and the Great Bend solar project in Ohio.

"Mammoth Solar's commitment to farming families, dual-use practices and the local communities will allow farmers to produce food and crop alongside the solar panels, maximizing their land and profitability,” said Chris Hinton, Vice President of Asset Management at Doral Renewables, in a statement. “The majority of these efforts will occur during the operation phase of the project and require an O&M partner with both professional experience and a similar community-oriented approach.”

NovaSource will utilize data-driven asset management solutions to maximize energy output and optimize performance through advanced monitoring and analytics.

Local farmer Billy Bope is working with Doral Renewables and leading the agricultural integration part of the dual use project, according to the Inside Indiana Business website. His land will include sheep grazing, and the solar panels will be moved after their 30-year lifespan, according to reports.

Doral Renewables is a subsidiary of Israeli company Doral Energy. Located in Pulaski and Starke Counties, the overall $1.5 billion Mammoth Solar projects could generate enough electricity at capacity to power 250,000 homes.
