Air Liquide and Trillium Partner to Advance Heavy-Duty Hydrogen Fueling

Industrial gases company Air Liquide has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with alternative fueling solutions provider Trillium Energy Solutions to drive the growth of the heavy-duty hydrogen fueling sector in the U.S.

Under the MoU, the two companies will work together to create the essential hydrogen refueling infrastructure and fuel supply network required for the widespread adoption of heavy-duty hydrogen trucks.

The partners will explore the deployment of an extensive network of hydrogen refueling stations, starting with an initial deployment along a strategically significant trucking route. The initiative aims to support truck Original Equipment Manufacturers in accelerating the deployment of their hydrogen-powered vehicles and assisting fleet operators in transitioning to low-carbon and zero-emission transportation.

The collaboration will see Air Liquide contribute its expertise in critical technology areas such as hydrogen production, liquefaction, transportation, and storage. Meanwhile, Trillium will provide its extensive experience in operating and managing alternative fueling stations, coupled with its nationwide infrastructure network, to establish a hydrogen retail network for consumers.

The initial goal of this partnership is to facilitate the development of 150 tons per day of hydrogen production capacity and the corresponding refueling infrastructure capable of servicing over 2,000 heavy-duty vehicles.
