IMC Reveals Design of Its 50 Nikola Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Trucks at Compton Facility
IMC, a marine drayage company in the US, has introduced the design of its fleet of 50 Nikola Corporation HYLA brand hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks at its newly opened Compton facility.
IMC initiated the purchase of 50 Nikola hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks through Tom's Truck Centers, Nikola's Southern California dealer. The deal has helped IMC secure an initial batch of 10 trucks in Q4 2023, with an additional 10 scheduled for March 2024 and the remaining 30 to be delivered by the end of 2024.
The deployment of these hydrogen-powered trucks will be utilized in IMC's operations primarily in California, as well as in Arizona and Nevada.
"Our order for 50 Nikola hydrogen fuel cell electric trucks signifies our commitment to innovation and sustainability in drayage operations," said IMC CEO Joel Henry. "We're confident that these technology-advanced trucks will not only meet but exceed our expectations for enhanced efficiency and operational excellence."
In compliance with pending California regulations mandating all new drayage trucks registered to be zero-emission vehicles by 2035, Nikola's hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles offer an immediate and viable solution.
IMC secured significant incentives through CARB's Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project program and Port of Los Angeles' Clean Truck Fund Rate.
