A California municipality is enacting a new energy efficiency program for local businesses which could save them more than 36,000 MWh in use.

Glendale Water and Power has launched its new Business Energy Upgrade program in partnership with Willdan Group. The program offers direct installation of GWP-incentivized energy saving upgrades for all Glendale businesses.

The Business Energy Upgrade Program is the second program to be launched from GWP’s Clean Energy RFP process. Energy-efficient upgrades include exterior lighting, interior lighting, refrigeration and more.

This clean energy program will deliver 36,500 MWh in energy savings by providing a combination of targeted energy-efficiency technologies, upgrades, and services for small and large Glendale businesses, according to the municipality. GWP distributes electricity to over 89,500 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in Glendale.

“The GWP Business Upgrade program is a simple yet beneficial option for Glendale’s commercial customers to make affordable upgrades that will save them money and energy in the long run. These upgrades are a step in the clean energy direction, and everyone involved benefits from them,” said Mark Young, General Manager of GWP.

Willdan will provide a free assessment of the commercial customer’s facility to determine the best energy and cost-saving solutions, and work directly with the business to schedule an appointment to install the new upgrades. The new energy-efficient equipment will provide savings for years to come through dramatically reduced energy costs on the business customer’s monthly utility bill.
