The firms will leverage Chart Industries’ Sustainable Energy Solutions Cryogenic Carbon Capture technology at the host sites

Wolf Carbon Solutions U.S., an affiliate of Wolf Midstream, and cryogenic equipment and technologies firm Chart Industries signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly identify, develop and execute projects across the proposed Mt. Simon Hub carbon pipeline system.

The projects will utilize Chart Industries’ Sustainable Energy Solutions Cryogenic Carbon Capture technology across the mutually agreed upon host sites along the pipeline system, which runs from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to central Illinois.

The technology will capture carbon, which would otherwise be released into the atmosphere. The captured carbon will be transported, stored and permanently sequestered at the proposed Mt. Simon Hub carbon capture, transport and sequestration system.

The firms will also focus on an extension northward toward Chicago and east into Indiana and the Ohio River Valley in the future. Refineries and cement, steel and other operational industries in that area are looking to sequester CO2 emissions from their facilities.

Chart’s CEO and President Jill Evanko said the projects that the two firms will undertake will enable facility owners and operators to achieve their GHG emissions reduction targets, especially in the hard-to-abate industries.

Wolf’s President David Schmunk said, “Wolf is excited to partner with Chart, an established global cryogenic engineering and manufacturing company and leader in carbon capture technology. Wolf’s infrastructure and Chart’s technology bring a complementary, unmatched service offering to accelerate the decarbonization needs of the industrial Midwest U.S.”
