Einride, a freight mobility company focusing on digital, electric, and autonomous technology, announced the opening of its first US Einride Smartcharger Station in Lynwood, California, in Los Angeles County.
The site is located near the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach along I-710, which handles 29% of all containerized international waterborne trade in the US. The site features 65 chargers with the capacity to charge up to 200 vehicles a day, making it what Einride calls the largest operational charging site for electric heavy-duty freight in North America.
The site - built in collaboration with Voltera - will ensure electric fleets can integrate into day-to-day shipping operations while reducing congestion and driver wait time. The charging station currently serves Einride's connected electric fleets, including routes for A.P. Moller-Maersk. Einride plans to make the station available for future customers in order to bolster the freight ecosystem in Los Angeles County.

The Lynwood Smartcharger Station is the first of many the company plans to build throughout the country, and it will serve a critical function in installing capacity to service the region connecting the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Future stations are being pursued on both the West and East coasts, and construction is set to begin on new sites later in 2024.
