The 718-kW direct-current/50-kW alternating-current ground-mounted PV solar module with produce nearly 900,000 kW annually

Ameresco, energy efficiency and renewable energy integrator, completed a solar installation with Valmont Industries, a products and services provider for infrastructure development and agriculture facilities, in Bristol, Indiana to offset 100% of the plant’s electricity usage. The 718-kW direct-current/50-kW alternating-current ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) solar module will produce nearly 900,000 kW annually and offset 766 tons of carbon dioxide emissions in its first year of operation.

“As part of the long-term need for critical infrastructure, we recognize the vital role energy generation and transmission products will play in the energy transition super cycle, as well as the importance of sustainability in the products, services, and solutions we deliver that conserve resources and improve life. How we deliver is just as important as what we deliver,” said Aaron Schapper, Group President of Infrastructure at Valmont.

Valmont’s application of clean energy will offset its facility’s conventional electricity usage. This, combined with its sustainable utility pole manufacturing process that minimizes total cement usage, will improve freight costs for customers and reduce transportation emissions in northern U.S. markets.

“Valmont’s decision to incorporate clean and renewable energy sources into their production facility shows innovative leadership in the manufacturing and industrial space,” said Lou Maltezos, Ameresco EVP. “We are excited to play a role in the integration of clean power into production facilities of the future.”
