Over the next 25 years, the site is expected to pay more than $40 million in property taxes and create over 200 jobs for local residents

Avangrid, a sustainable energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, has started construction on its True North 240MWac solar farm in Falls County, Texas, to supply renewable energy to Meta’s upcoming data center site in nearby Temple.

“We are very excited to announce this milestone, which reflects our unwavering commitment to advancing the clean energy transition and building a more sustainable future for all”, said Pedro Azagra, Avangrid CEO. “With projects like True North, we continue our mission of helping the country meet its ambitious energy goals, while also creating quality jobs and strengthening our local economies”.

With commercial operations expected to begin in early 2025, True North will be Avangrid’s first solar farm in Texas. Over the next 25 years, the site is expected to pay more than $40 million in property taxes and create over 200 jobs for local residents.

Since 2020, Meta’s global operations have been supported entirely by renewable energy sources, and True North will play a key role in supporting this ongoing mission.
